Civil-law notary office Duchamp is a modern and full service firm. Under a new name, familiar faces continue to work together. Professionalism, discretion and personal attention are at the heart of what we do. We do not believe in standard solutions, but in commitment and expertise in the various areas of law. Ms. Mireille N. van Velde has served as the deputy notary for the office of former notary Mr. Jacques Buiteman since late 2025. Over the course of her notarial career, she has become an expert in personal and family law, both nationally and internationally. Her approach is characterized by legal precision combined with personal commitment. She provides notarial services to both private clients and businesses.

After completing her studies in communication and civil -law notarial law in Utrecht, Mireille worked in the notarial practice for several years. After that, she lived and worked in Italy for a period. She worked for a law firm in Bologna and followed an MBA study at SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan. Once back in the Netherlands, she worked as a senior consultant in the field of corporate communications and public affairs. In 2019, she returned to her first passion, the civil-law notarial profession. In recent years, she worked as a deputy civil-notary in The Hague.

A deputy civil-law notary is a civil-law notary who temporarily takes over the entire practice of another notary until a successor is appointed. Mireille is currently in the process of being appointed as a successor in this role.

During this period, the deputy civil-law notary is fully responsible for all work, files, and clients of the office. For clients, this ensures continuity and certainty: all deeds and advice carry the same legal validity as if they were handled by the original notary.

In short, a deputy civil-law notary ensures that the civil-law notary office continues to operate professionally, meticulously, and without interruption.
